Fm logistic

La logique des transports urbain

Since early July, FM Logistic France has been housing the Beiersdorf group at its platform in Château-Thierry (02). The inventor of modern cosmetic cream, known worldwide under the brand name Nivea, also owns Eucerin, La Prairie, Labello and Hansaplast.

Through joining FM Logistics cosmetics pool, Beiersdorf is able to consolidate its Cosmetics and Personal care operations on a single site while benefitting from FM Logistics expertise in terms of shared supply management, multi-channel distribution, secure storage and operational performance.

A full service contract

Some 1000 Beiersdorf references now occupy two compartments at the platform in Château-Thierry, arriving from factories located all over the world. From there, they will be shipped to points of sale across France.

The account will expand in the coming weeks, in terms of cosmetics products, with the support of around 50 employees. Personal care will follow in the coming months.

True partners, Beiersdorf benefits from a “full service”FM Logistic contract that, on top of its tried and tested traceability process, includes co-packing operations (with an automated arm carrying out repetitive tasks of low added value) and storage operations, including monitoring temperatures and humidity levels. As for transport, FM Logistic works towards two types of distribution:“mass market”for cosmetics and specialised transport for personal care products.

Regarding the choice of FM Logistic, Flore Maynard, the Supply Chain Director at Beiersdorf France, said: “I’m delighted with this new partnership. It will provide us with a more agile supply chain to better meet market expectations”.

Château-Thierry, FM Logistics cosmetics pool

The Château-Thierry site (upper tier Seveso classified) was created in 2005 to house FM Logistic’s cosmetics pool. It is located in Aisne, an hour from Paris, near the A4 autoroute. There, Beiersdorf joins well-known groups and brands including L’Oreal, GSK, Eugene Perma, L’Occitane en Provence, Melvita and Le Couvent des Minimes.

With a capacity of 105 000 m² and a workforce of more than 500 members of staff to date, the platform has 128 loading docks to house 149 000 pallets.
